Your questions answered

Seeking help and beginning therapy can be difficult and daunting and people often have lots of
questions. I have tried to answer some of the most commonly asked questions below.

How many sessions will I need?

Everyone is different and the number of sessions you will require will vary depending on your
personal needs. On average, a typical course of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy can be 6-12 sessions.
If you choose to engage in therapy, we will review your progress together and how you feel sessions
are going.

What if I need to cancel an appointment?

Sometimes people need to cancel their appointment, life happens. Where possible, it is useful to
have 48 hours notice. I’m afraid I do ask for payment for the session if less than 48 hours notice is
given.

Will I be ‘cured’?

It is important at the beginning of therapy to set goals and consider what changes and
improvements you would like to make. An aim in therapy might be that specific things improve or
you are able to manage better.

Will I need to have more sessions?

Sometimes one period of sessions is enough. Sometimes people might like or need to have top up
sessions or another set of sessions. Everyone is different and it depends on what you think about
your difficulties following sessions.
